Shortly before 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 5, Mechanicsville resident Alan Reinburg, 34, was struck by a Ford pick-up truck in Charles County near Route 6/Port Tobacco Road at Academy Place, according to investigators.
The initial investigation found that Newburg resident Jeffrey Grasso, 37, was driving a Ford F-150 pick-up truck east on Port Tobacco Road while Reinburg was traveling along the opposite direction on his bike.
For unknown reason, the pick-up truck veered over the double yellow line and struck Reinburg’s motorcycle head-on. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Following his death, support for his family and friends swelled in droves on social media, with many bemoaning the motorcyclist's untimely crash.
Following his death, a family member also set up a GoFundMe account on behalf of Reinburg to help offset the unexpected cost of his funeral.
"My nephew's life was taken unexpectedly at the young age of 34 yesterday," his aunt wrote. "No one ever wants to ask for help, but sometimes it's necessary.
"Please, if you are able to help financially in any way to be able to give him a proper funeral, it would be much appreciated," she continued. "Alan leaves behind a beautiful family and children and they will need extra help and support in the coming days.
"If you're unable to help financially, please share and keep our family in your prayers."
